About the app

What is Forever Assistant?

A free Windows app for World of Warcraft: Forever. A small companion addon saves your characters in the game, and the app turns that into a plan: a to-do list, gold suggestions with the math shown, a ledger, gear and talent advice, maps and loot, and guild tools. See Features.

Is it free?

Yes. No account, no ads, and no paid features. If you'd like to help keep it going, there's an optional tip on Support.

Which game does it work with?

World of Warcraft: Forever only. It doesn't support retail World of Warcraft or Classic Era. Normal, PvP, and Roleplaying characters all work.

Does it work on a Mac?

No, only on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit).

Who makes it?

A Forever player, as a fan project. It isn't made or supported by Blizzard Entertainment.

Safety

Is it safe to use with my game account?

The app never reads the game's memory, never changes the game, and never presses keys or plays for you. It reads only files: what its companion addon and Auctionator save, and the game's own data files, read only. The companion addon uses the same game features as any other addon.

Like any program you run next to the game, it's your choice to use it under Blizzard's terms.

What does it change on my PC?

Its own records, in its own folder. Its companion addon's folder. Other addons only when you install, update, or remove them on its Addons page, and then it backs them up first and waits until the game is closed. It never needs an administrator password.

Does it send anything about me?

Your records stay on your PC. Online, the app only reads Blizzard's Forever news and server status, addon releases from GitHub, and this site's version file. A daily performance report, with counts and times and no names, goes out only if you say yes. Details are on Privacy.

Installing

Windows warned me. Is that normal?

Yes, for a new free app. Windows warns about programs from publishers it doesn't know, and companies pay every month to be known. In the warning, select More info, check that the app is ForeverAssistantSetup, then Run anyway. If your browser says the file isn't commonly downloaded, keep it. Download shows each step in pictures.

There's no Run anyway button.

Select More info first. If there's still no Run anyway, Windows 11's Smart App Control or a work PC's rules block apps Windows doesn't know.

You can turn Smart App Control off in Windows Security > App & browser control > Smart App Control settings. Windows doesn't always let you turn it back on without resetting the PC, so decide carefully. On a work PC, ask whoever looks after it.

My antivirus says it's a threat.

New, unsigned apps sometimes get flagged by mistake. Every version is scanned with Microsoft Defender before it goes on this site. Don't turn your antivirus off: tell us on Support with the exact message, so the mistake can be reported and cleared.

How do I get the companion addon?

The app installs it for you on its Setup page. If the game was running, quit it fully and start it again, since the game finds new addons only at start. Then select Push to the app on the companion's minimap button.

Where do the prices come from?

From your own auction house scans with the Auctionator addon. Scan at the auction house, and the app reads the prices when you reload or log out. More scans make better suggestions.

Using it

Where are my records?

On your PC, in the app's folder for your Windows user (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Forever Assistant\data). Gold and price history is kept in one folder per month, as files a spreadsheet opens. Nothing is deleted automatically.

How do I update?

When a new version is out, the top of the app says so. Select Update now: the app closes, updates, and opens again with your records. It checks the update against this site before installing. What's new lists each version.

How do I uninstall it?

In Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps, select … beside Forever Assistant, then Uninstall. Your records stay, so a new install picks them up, unless you tick Also delete my records. Remove the companion addon on the app's Addons page first if you like.

I tested an older copy from a ZIP file.

Install the new version, then on its Setup page select Look for older copies and Bring in these records beside your old folder. Your characters, to-dos, goals, gold history, prices, and guild records come along.

Getting help

Something's wrong. Where do I tell you?

First look at the app's Help page: its Check the app section often says what's wrong and how to fix it.

Then tell us on the Forever Assistant Discord, with the app's version (shown at the bottom of its menu) and what you did. The server opens soon, and its link appears here and on Support.
