Your records stay on your PC
No account, no ads, and no tracking. Here's everything the app and this site keep and send, in plain words.
Last updated October 10, 2026.
The app
What it reads on your PC
- What its companion addon saves in the game's folder, and Auctionator's saved scans.
- The game's own data files, read only, for items, talents, maps, and art.
- Your combat log files, read only, to list each fight.
- Addon zip files from the last two weeks in your Downloads folder, to offer installing them. Their names are never saved or logged.
- The clipboard, only when it starts with the companion's marker. Anything else on the clipboard isn't read, kept, or logged.
It never reads the game's memory and never presses keys.
What it keeps
Your characters, to-dos, goals, gold records, prices, guild records, settings, and backups, all in its own folder on your PC. Nothing is uploaded. Uninstalling removes the app; your records stay until you delete them or tick Also delete my records.
What goes online
- Blizzard: the forums' posts about Forever for the News page, and Blizzard's server status page. Reads only.
- GitHub: the releases of addons you check or install, and Questie's loot data. Reads only.
- This site: once a day, the app reads
foreverassistant.com/version.jsonto see whether a new version is out, and Update now downloads it from here. Nothing about you is sent. - A daily performance report, only if you say yes. The app asks once. See below.
- Links you select, such as guides, open in your browser.
If you choose, the app starts Warcraft Logs' own uploader when a new combat log begins. That uploader, not this app, sends logs to Warcraft Logs, under its own privacy policy.
The daily performance report
The first time you open the app, it asks whether it can send a short report to the developer. If you say yes, it sends one a day, on days you use the app: the app's and companion's versions, the game's version, memory and processor use, which of the app's self-checks passed, and how its advice is doing, as counts. Each report has a random report number. It holds no character names, account names, file paths, or anything you typed. Saying no changes nothing else in the app.
To see what a report holds, or to change your answer, select Save performance report at the bottom of the app's menu, then select or clear Send a report once a day while I use the app.
Reports go through foreverassistant.com/api/report to the developer's private Discord channel, where they're read to fix problems. To keep the channel from being flooded, the site remembers for two days that a report number and your network already sent one today. It doesn't store your IP address: networks are counted by a scrambled code that changes every day. It doesn't keep the report itself.
This website
- Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies, doesn't follow you to other sites, and doesn't identify you. It counts pages, where visitors came from, and their country and kind of device.
- Downloads of the setup file are counted by file name. Nothing about who downloaded is kept.
- The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which handles every request and protects the site from attacks, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- No cookies, no forms, no accounts, no ads, and nothing from other companies loads on these pages besides Cloudflare's counter.
Discord and tips
The Forever Assistant Discord server and Ko-fi tips are run by Discord and Ko-fi, under their own privacy policies. A tip doesn't change anything in the app. If you tip and say you'd like to be thanked by name, that name appears on Support; ask on Discord to have it removed.
Questions
Ask on the Forever Assistant Discord: see Support. If this page changes, the date at the top changes too.
